Martin didn't even tell McLellan about Notwithstanding Clause announcement

A nugget from the Edmonton Sun:

After the all-candidates debate at Ross Sheppard high school Tuesday, I asked her whether Prime Minister Paul Martin had warned her in advance he was going to propose scrapping the notwithstanding clause on live TV. He had not, she said, smiling patiently.

Think about that. Anne's the deputy PM, allegedly the person with Martin's ear. She's a constitutional scholar, for pete's sake - she's forgotten more about the notwithstanding clause than Martin ever knew.

And he didn't even drop her a BlackBerry note warning her he was about to pull this bonehead play. What kind of a boss does that to a trusted executive?
